Chiropractic
Since our vertebrae of the spine are moveable, it is then possible for one to slip out of place. When this happens, it will narrow the opening thus pressing upon the nerve. This is called a subluxation. It will interfere with normal flow of nerve energy.
Chiropractic is described as a philosophy, an art and a science. A Chiropractic Adjustment is a technique used to realign the vertebrae in the spine. It is an essential part of your healthcare because vertebrae in the spine can become misaligned or pinched (vertebral subluxation) and interfere with normal nerve flow, causing pain, discomfort and in some cases disease. The causes of vertebral subluxations are many. They usually occur from trauma or imbalances, emotional disturbances, even the normal aging process.
The nervous system is comprised of the brain and an extension of the brain called the spinal cord and 31 pairs of spinal nerves which exit the spinal cord and communicate with every cell in the body. The spinal cord is protected by a series of bones which stack on top of each other. These 24 little bones are called vertebrae. They make up the spinal column.
I utilize various low force techniques and make application of gentle pressure. We call this an adjustment. The spinal adjustment allows the spinal nerves to properly communicate with your body, improving overall health and well being and allowing your body to function at its optimal level.
Therapeutic Exercises using the Swiss Ball
Exercise is an integral part of the progressive treatment approach for muscular skeletal dysfunction. My job is to facilitate the return of quality, pain free movement in my patients. The Swiss Ball has proven to be an excellent tool for motor re-education in neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation.
Facilitated Stretching
Facilitated Stretching is useful for maintaining general flexibility for daily activities and as preventive maintenance in repetitive motion activities. It is an active – assisted form of stretching in which the stretcher does most of the work! It brings about change in a very short time because it optimizes a muscle’s ability to lengthen.
Breathing Techniques
Normal breathing patterns are taught because many of us are in the habit of holding our breath during strong muscular effort. One reason why normal breathing is so important is because holding the breath is often accompanied by compensatory recruitment of other muscles
